EurAsia Golf launches new event in India

NEW DELHI: The first new tournament for the alliance between the European and Asian tours will be staged at an Arnold Palmer-designed course here next February.

The joint venture company, known as EurAsia Golf Ltd, will co-sanction the euro1.5 million ($2.1 million) Avantha Masters with the Professional Golf Tour of India at the DLF Golf and Country Club from February 11-14, the Asian Tour said in a release on Tuesday.

The European Tour co-sanctioned two events in New Delhi in 2008, including the Johnnie Walker Classic at the DLF club, with the Asian and Indian tours. It has been co-sanctioning events with the Asian Tour since 1999.

Farah selects Akshay over SRK for her first home production film

Everyone must be wondering why the choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan has picked Akshay Kumar over best friend Bollywood badsaah Shah Rukh Khan, especially when it is her first home production. The film is titled as Tees Maar Khan, which is her third directorial venture for which her husband Shirish Kunder has penned the script. Her selection is contrary to our expectations, but she says that Shah Rukh, (who starred in her two films earlier- Main Hoon Na, Om Shani Om) is ok with it. “There’s no stress between SRK and me. In fact, he’s very happy for me and our production house and has offered every kind of help that I might need while doing the film,” say Farah.

Salman to play Mogambo

For the first time in his career, Salman Khan is set to play a villain as Mogambo in a sequel to Mr. India. In the original film, the late veteran actor Amrish Puri played Mogambo, while in the sequel Salman will be seen in the same eccentric and jazzy attire.
Anees Bazmee will direct the film, which promises the comeback of Sridevi. Confirming the news, producer of the film Boney Kapoor said, “Yes, Salman will play a negative role in the sequel, just like Amrish Puri did in Mr. India.” Not divulging much about the film, he said, “The script is still being finalised.”

Actor-director-social activist Rahul Bose and an upcoming actor Arjun Mathur (earlier seen in Farhan Akhtar’s short film on AIDS Positive and Zoya Akhtar’s Luck By Chance) recently shot a gay love making scene for Onir’s I Am Omar. Moreover, the director is happy with his actors, as all of them are thorough professionals and he expects the censor board to act professionally too.
The film also stars Abhimanyu Singh of Gulal fame. He plays a homophobic cop in the film harassing the gay couple. Praising his actors, director Onir said, “Luckily none of my actors had any inhibitions. Rahul and Arjun did the scene, which goes much beyond anything seen in Indian cinema. They behaved like thorough professionals.”
However, about the scene, Arjun said, “For me as an actor it is always challenging to see what lies beneath the calm exteriors. I had absolutely no inhibitions playing the gay character and doing the kissing sequence with Rahul. I wondered what it would feel like. But it was done clinically and professionally.”

Actor Gere says “obscene” kiss was nothing

 Hollywood star Richard Gere downplayed the fact that an Indian court has ordered his arrest when he kissed Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty on the cheek calling it an “obscene act”.
