The winds are also steering smoke from the fires southeastward into the St. Lawrence Valley and northern New England.
About 51 fires are burning across the province, according to fire information officer Melanie Morin, and nine of those are considered out of control.
The Maine Forest Service has sent 21 firefighters to Quebec to help battle the forest fires. Manitoba also sent two water bombers.
In the Quebec area around 50 wildfires are burning of Canada and the wind is helping them spread to New England. Meanwhile, the fires have created a smoky haze in many parts surrounding Quebec. The haze and the smell of smoke spread as far as Kemptville and Merrickville.
