Indian origin British actress Archie Panjabi, who starred in films like Bend it like Beckham and East is East, has bagged the best supporting actress in a drama series for her role in The Good Wife at the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards.

The actress who was born to Sikh parents in West London, began her career with the Om-Puri starrer East is East and went on to star in films like Bend It Like Beckham and Academy award nominated The Constant Gardener.

But big British names like Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellen and Michael Sheen all missed out on the coveted awards as homegrown US stars swept the board.
