HPCL is a Fortune 500 company, with an annual turnover of Rs. 1,16,428 Crores and sales/income from operations of Rs 1,31,802 Crores (US$ 25,618 Millions) during FY 2008-09, having about 20% Marketing share in India and a strong market infrastructure. Corresponding figures for FY 2007-08 are: Turnover of Rs 1,03,837 Crores and sales/income from Operations of Rs.1,12,098 Crores (US$ 25,142 Million). HPCL operates 2 major refineries producing a wide variety of petroleum fuels & specialties, one in Mumbai (West Coast) of 6.5 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA) capacity and the other in Vishakapatnam, (East Coast) with a capacity of 7.5 MMTPA.In bulk fuel and specialties section Hindustan Petroleum provides products like bitumen, marine lubes, fuels, special products, marine – bunker fuels and superior kerosene oil – NC. In lubes section Hindustan Petroleum deals in HP Hylube Milcy, HP Multipurpose Grease, HP Koolgard, HP Petrol Plus, HP Koolgard P, HP Pumpset Oil 20W – 40, HP Laal Ghoda 20W – 40, HP Racer 2 Low Smoke, HP Laal Ghoda AP Grease, HP Racer 4, HP Laal Ghoda Gear Oil EP 9C, HP Super Duty Brake Fluid Dot – 4, HP Laal Ghoda Tractor Oil 40, HP Super Engine Oil MG 20W, HP Milcy Power 15W – 40, HP Thanda Raja, HP Milcy Toofan 15W 40 and HP Wheel Bearing Grease.

The company has two major refineries one in Mumbai, the other in the southern Indian city of Vishakhapatnam and produces lubricants, aviation fuel, liquefied petroleum gas, and light diesel oil. Hindustan Petroleum also holds a 17% stake in a refinery at Mangalore. Other businesses include pipelines, a lube refinery (with a 40% share of the lube oil market), and more than 8,000 gas stations nationwide. The Indian government owns 51% of the company. The marketing network of HPCL consists of 13 Zonal offices in major cities and 101 Regional offices[7] facilitated by a Supply & Distribution infrastructure comprising Terminals, Aviation Service Facilities, LPG Bottling Plants, Lube filling plants, Inland Relay Depots, Retail Outlets (Petrol Pumps) and LPG & Lube Distributorships.

The project comprises seventeen 1.5-MW wind turbines and is scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2010, it said.Oil marketing firm HPCL has forayed into non-conventional energy and plan to implement a 100-MW capacity wind farm in phases.
