Tata DoCoMo will be bringing Agriculture and Education services as part of their Value Added Services which they feel are life assisting services and powerful enablers helping people earn their living. Nokia had announced commercial availability of Life Tools in India a little more than an year back in Maharashtra. Today, the suite of services has spread across 18 states and is available in 11 regional languages – Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Punjabi, Kannada, Tamil, Oriya and English.Tata DoCoMo will be offering these services along with their SIM cards and should be able to leverage this deal to get a stronger foothold in the rural parts of India. While Nokia might be losing its dominance when it comes to cities, such services should help them maintain their status as the leading handset manufacturer.

TTSL plans to launch the GSM service in southern India this month and gradually expand it nationwide.TTSL has created significant strengths with its high-quality network and extensive retail stores and customer-service outlets covering nearly all of India, where new subscribers have been surging with net monthly increases of more than 10 million.DOCOMO, as part of its effort to leverage TTSL's continued growth and development, is participating proactively in TTSL's management by providing human resources and technical assistance to help realize improved network quality and the possible introduction of leading-edge, value-added services.

The company serves over 54 million customers in Japan, including 48 million using i-mode™, the world's most popular mobile e-mail/Internet platform, and 49 million using FOMA™, the world's original 3G mobile service based on W-CDMA. As a leader in the development of cutting-edge mobile technologies, DOCOMO is continually expanding the role of mobile phones as versatile and highly personalized "lifestyle tools" for everyday life, including with a wide range of innovative services for mobile payments, GPS, mobile TV, multimedia content and much more.

The new plan is initially offered to the carrier’s customers in Andhra Pradesh, where interested folks can grab the the “Voice Free Recharge” in three denominations of Rs. 200, Rs. 350 and Rs. 500, with a validity of 10, 20 and 30 days, respectively.According to Mr. NV Subbarao, Regional Head, South-East, Tata DOCOMO – in addition to providing affordable phone calls, the goal of this plan is also to ramp up mobile internet use. GPRS data will be available for 1 Paise per 1 KB, which sounds like a bargain to me.
