Wwhatever Happened to Baby Jane

bette davis, what ever happened to baby jane, hocus pocus, halloween films, hocus pocus cast

What artistic mayhem transpires when you pair up a cult classic film with a legendary ballet? A few good turns on the dance floor, dark humor, and a sadistic premise that knocks you over the head too many times (just like the hammer in the final act).

But subtlety rarely figures into the repertoire of choreographer Myron Johnson and Ballet of the Dolls. "Whatever Happened to ... Swan Lake?" carries on the troupe's commitment to boldly celebrating the irreverent. And there's plenty of it in this remount of a 1991 work.

Joan Crawford and Bette Davis set the standard for scenery-chewing performance in 1962's "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" Johnson transfers their roles to a pair of ballerinas: Blanche White (Stephanie Karr-Smith) and her sister, Jane (Stephanie Fellner). Blanche is beloved by all and wins the lead in "Swan Lake." Jane is overlooked, even failing in her attempt to seduce company director Serge (Robert Skafte).

When Blanche suffers a suspicious career-ending accident, Jane breaks into a sinister smile and bows to an audience that she is certain will finally be hers alone. She evolves into a deluxe diva and steals her sister's former partner, Siegfried (Michael DeLeon). But the wheelchair-bound Blanche remains everyone's favorite, and Jane is no longer just jealous, she's brutally abusive toward her sister.

In the front yard of Michele Laramie's home in Madison Heights, you'll find typical Halloween decorations -- pumpkins, a graveyard, a ghost.

And tonight, her 3-year-old daughter will dress up and trick-or-treat as a witch.

Witches, ghosts and graveyards -- not exactly angelic images.

But many people are like Laramie, who is Catholic. They will spend this morning in church and then dabble in the traditional displays of Halloween spirit this evening. It's the way it goes when the holiday for ghouls and goblins falls on a Sunday, the holy day for Christians.

Laila Jones, 3, of Farmington Hills waits to go into the haunted halls of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The Rev. Jeremy Schultz, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Royal Oak, says that's probably OK.

Unless churchgoers take celebrations to a twisted extreme, he sees little harm in traditions like trick-or-treating or dressing up in costume.

"Yes, it's true, there are historical roots of Halloween that we would certainly not endorse as Christians," Schultz says. "But what Halloween is today and the practice of trick-or-treating and dressing up, it is really more along the lines of pageantry and fun."

As Laramie says: "It's something that I think is meant to be fun. I'm sure there are those people who don't like it. But many do."
A consistent message

Those who don't observe Halloween customs for religious reasons may be in the minority, but they are serious.

The Rev. Bryan C. Moore, pastor of Historic Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church on Detroit's west side, hopes members skip the trick-or-treating tonight and come to the church's Harvest Game Night party instead. It will feature food, games, candy and kids dressed as biblical characters.

What it won't include are scary things like ghosts -- outside of the holy one, of course.

For Moore, it's about sending a consistent message as a Christian.

"It can be confusing for people you're trying to communicate your Christian values to," Moore says. "If they see you're a part of this Christian community but you also celebrate something that is purely anti-Christian, it kind of convolutes us. It really hurts us when we get ready to tackle other issues and we've lost credibility."

Beverly Phillips, assistant director of public relations of the Jewish Community Council, said many Orthodox Jews avoid the holiday completely.

"Instead, they focus on Purim," Phillips says, referring to a Jewish festival that celebrates being saved from slaughter in Persia. "It's a celebration in March, and kids do dress up in costume then."

In the Muslim community, Halloween doesn't seem to be an issue, says Imad Hamad, a father of three and regional director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.

He says his kids and others he knows from Muslim families celebrate Halloween in typical fashion with costumes, candy, tricks and treats. He said the religious implications of the holiday had never crossed his mind.

Denise Borino Quinn unexpectedly won a role as a mafia wife

ROSELAND, N.J. -- Denise Borino-Quinn, who unexpectedly won a role as a mafia wife on "The Sopranos" after she attended an open casting call, has died. She was 46.

The Farmer Funeral Home in Roseland, N.J., said Borino-Quinn died Wednesday after a long battle with liver cancer. Her husband, Luke Quinn Jr., had died in March.

A Roseland native who lived in Bordentown, Borino-Quinn had no acting experience when she was hired in 2000 to play Ginny Sacrimoni, the mafia wife with a weight problem. The character quickly became popular with fans and was featured in an October 2002 episode.

Borino-Quinn had attended the casting call mostly to support a childhood friend and was shocked when she was hired for the HBO show.

When she wasn't acting, Borino-Quinn worked at a New Brunswick law firm.

Time Change fall 2010 Daylight Saving Winter is Comming

daylight savings time 2010, time change, time change 2010 fall, time change 2010 uk, time change 2010

Time change fall 2010 is here – in other words, according to daylight saving time rules, we have to change the time on our watches.

If you live in the USA, you have another week until the daylight savings time change change occurs, but it’s already the moment for time change 2010 UK.

The reason for this is to be able to enjoy more daylight in the afternoons, and that is why clocks are moved backward one hour in the fall and one forward in spring.

Here’s how it works. If you live in the UK, September 31 is the date when you have to adjust clocks. The change is at 6:30 AM.

Meanwhile, if you live in the USA, you have another week to get used to the idea. The change occurs on November 7, at 7:30 PM.

Saif Ali Khan with Kareena Kapoor size zero in Bollywood

The trendsetter of size zero in Bollywood, actress Kareena Kapoor now ‘hates’ to be called size zero. She has gained weight in right measure at right places, and now is in love with her zaftig, voluptuous figure.

Recently during the photoshoot for a shoe brand, Kareena, who is at her curvy best, did not opt for any photoshopped effects to make her pictures more photogenic they were shot. She wasn’t conscious at all about her legs not looking lean. As a source tells a tabloid, “Kareena’s photos are natural as she never asks for airbrushed pictures.”

Usually celebrities ask for touchups but Kareena likes to keep it natural. For her upcoming films too she is without her size-zero frame. So, whether it’s Ra.One, Bodyguard, Agent Vinod or a Karan Johar film with Imran Khan, we will see Bebo in new avatar that is nowhere near her wispy look in Tashan or Kambakkht Ishq.

Yes Bebo, the audience too would love it. Is Saif Ali Khan saying ‘yeah!’.

Movie Online Nakshatra Review, Cast & Crew, Pictures, wallpapers, Songs and Rating

A tacky thriller starring a rag-tag bunch of actors isn’t everybody’s idea of entertainment. Nakshatra, starring Shubh Mukherjee, Sabina Sheema, Milind Soman and Anupam Kher, is a dud of a thriller revolving around the burglary of a priceless diamond necklace and a bunch of usual suspects, including the film’s hero who ends up in the police net.

Ajay (Shubh) is a whizz when it comes to games and cracking codes. He’s also an aspiring scriptwriter, who pens a story about a theft in a jewellery museum, and in doing so he inadvertently cracks the security code of a real jewellery museum, where a real burglary takes place.

Though the film for which he wrote the script never gets made, bechara Ajay is nabbed by the police for stealing the nakshatra necklace. Inspector Gupte (Milind Soman) from crime branch is sure that Ajay is the culprit.

But when Ajay manages to flee to prove his innocence, Gupte smells a rat. He sees a carefully planned robbery in which Ajay is just a pawn.

There’s also the character of Ajay’s girlfriend Jiya (Sabina Sheema) who’s his moral support and a source of romantic escapade in the middle of all the bhaag daud.

Performances by all the actors are below par, but yes, the action scenes in the film do stand out. Shubh and Soman shine in a chase sequence when the former even manages to slide his bike under a trailer truck.

Having said this, Nakshatra fails to thrill because the story is just too over-the-top. The script is tacky and the twists and turns are placed as per the writer’s convenience without caring a hoot for authenticity and conviction. The climax when the villain tries to blow the heroine and hero with a bomb is outright funny without intending to. The songs add glamour but act as roadblocks.

All in all, this Nakshatra is a waste of time. Better watch the real Nakshatra, the great hunter Orion, in the eastern sky at night.

Movie Online Daayen Ya Baayen Review, Cast & Crew, Songs, Wallpapers

A sweet and simple film set in a tiny hamlet in the scenic foothills of the Himalayas, Daayen Ya Baayen has actor Deepak Dobriyal playing a klutzy school teacher who’s the butt of everyone’s joke.

Bela Negi, the first-time director, takes us into the lives of the village folk in a close-knit community through the story of Ramesh (Deepak) who left the village for the greener pastures of a city life but, unable to make himself a career as a writer, returns to the mountainous hamlet to his tetchy wife, an ailing mother, a cocky son and an unmarried sister-in-law.

He takes up the job of a school teacher and is often scorned at by all and sundry in the village for his quirkiness, one of them being taking a book along to read while defecating in an open field.

Fortune turns around in the humdrum life of this mediocre teacher when he wins a swanky red car in a television contest. Overnight, the bumbling schmuck becomes a hero in everybody’s eyes. But sooner than expected his dream-come-true becomes a nightmare. How?

Deepak Dobriyal’s slightly over-the-top portrayal of a gauche teacher suits the requirement of the film quite well. The campiness in his character is endearing to watch, particularly after he wins the car but can’t maintain it, nor pay for its fuel. The film’s other star is Amlan Dutta’s camera which beautifully captures the rural idyll of Uttarakhand.

The film runs out of fuel in the second half when the story stretches on and on without reaching anywhere. One gets the impression that Bela Negi had too much film stock but not enough grain in the story to tell.

As a result, Daayen Ya Baayen ends up as strictly a one-time watch film, that too for those who can sit through slow and sluggish arty movies.

Shahrukh Khan Craze In Don 2 | Pictures | Images | Wallpapers | Music | Songs | Videos

From Berlin to Beijing, the world’s certainly becoming a smaller place for Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan.

Presently shooting Farhan Akhtar’s film Don 2 in Berlin, Shahrukh will now head to Beijing in China for the premiere of his film My Name Is Khan that had the worldwide release earlier this year.

China has a very strict policy toward foreign films. Every year, just 20 foreign films get released in the country. This year, My Name Is Khan has the honour of being one of them. It’s also the first Hindi film to release in China in the last three decades. So the honour is all the more special.

Reports say the film will be premiered in Beijing on November 30. Director Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan are most certain to visit, but it’s unsure if Kajol, the film’s female lead, would join them.

We also hear that Karan Johar will himself design SRK’s costume which will be a mix of Indian and Chinese style.

Rinky Chaudhry Found Dead in Apartment

A small-time model identified as Rinki Chaudhry committed suicide by hanging herself in her Goregaon flat in Mumbai on Thursday. Additional Commissioner of Police Ramrao Pawar said that Rinki was reportedly found hanging by her boyfriend in the kitchen at her residence in Vallabh Apartment on Thursday evening.

According to police, Rinki had gone to the kitchen while her companion was sitting in the hall. “Since she did not return from the kitchen and was not responding, her boyfriend broke open the door and found her hanging,” Pawar said.

“The body of Rinki Chaudhry, a model and TV anchor, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the kitchen late Thursday,” a police official said.

“One of her male friends was with her when she went to the kitchen to get something. When she did not return for long, he broke open the door and found her hanging from the fan,” the official added.

Music Review of Break Ke Baad

Music is oxygen to Bollywood. Any romantic film can’t be without its most essential part - music. So when love is in the air, what kind of music it brings in? Break Ke Baad’s music director Vishal-Shekhar, who by now are quite expert in creating music for romantic flicks, yet again walk the well-trodden path. But does that make the Break Ke Baad songs not interesting or entertaining? Well, not exactly. Let’s find out what happens when Vishal-Shekhar team up with master of words Prasoon Joshi for this Deepika Padukone-Imran Khan starrer.

Moving to the album. Its first offering Adhoore Hum Adhoore Tum comes with perky music, trademark of Vishal Shekhar who generally like to keep it light. As guitar takes the forefront and Vishal Dadlani wields the mike, the song gets charged up. Not to forget Alyssa Mendonca who induces sassy flavor to the number. Adhoore Hum Remix is an entertaining, frisky number, just like the remix of a hit number should be.

Continuing the same melodious mood, the next offering is Ajab Leher. The song, soused in jazz and a bit of Bollywood pop, makes for a pleasant hearing. Singer Neeraj Sridhar is quite comfortable rendering such songs. Perfect!

Dhoop Ke Makan is a thought provoking song with philosophical lyrics like “Dhoop Ke Makan Sa Yeh Safar”. Sounds Gulzar-ish, doesn’t it! Shekhar Ravijiani croons this song with aplomb. He is joined by the talented Caralissa Monteiro and Sunidhi Chauhan. Indeed a track for a quiet evening getaway or a long drive. The slow Dhoop Ke Makan Acoustic version is an endearing number.

Dooriyan Hai Zaroori rocks the album. Monica Dogra and Vishal Dadlani have done a wonderful job with this track. The pulsating beats of the song will instantly strike a chord with the music buffs. The song is guaranteed to impress when comes alive on screen. Expecting a good picturisation of the song!

Main Jiyoonga is about the spirit of life. Just like the other tracks, it is zippy as well as peppy. Don’t Worry About Me is the English version of Main Jiyoonga with simple lyrics. The song can remind one of situational tracks in Hollywood films.

Light rock music of the 80s has clearly influenced the album as most of the songs are not too hard on ears; they are rather soft and fresh in approach. With guitar and drums playing the crucial role, the tracks are pretty successful in wooing us with their melody.

Abhishek Bachchan ad man Prahlad Kakkar

At the MAMI film festival in Mumbai, ad man Prahlad Kakkar had got many brows raised with his comment that Abhishek Bachchan’s name should be in Guinness Book of World Records.

Talking about the nepotism and favouritism in the Hindi film industry, Kakkar had said that sons of Bollywood stars get preference in the industry. He had cited the example of Abhishek, who, he said, had survived in the industry despite as many as 17 flops only because his father Amitabh Bachchan is a superstar.

Kakkar’s comment obviously didn’t go down well with Abhishek, whose name, incidentally, is already in Guinness Book of World Records for making maximum public appearances in 12 hours while promoting Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Delhi 6 in 2009.

"I love Prahlad Kakkar, he should be a stand-up comic not an ad-filmmaker. Maybe then someone will take him seriously! This coming from a man who makes commercials with his own son. Hmmm. Oh ya, Prahlad, I'm already in the Guinness book of world records and a very proud son. I hope you give your sons an opportunity to say the same someday," Abhishek wrote on his twitter page.

Katrina Kaif Become Radha in a film on Lord Krishna

Bollywood’s most gorgeous actress is set to turn Radha in a film on Lord Krishna. Katrina Kaif has agreed to make a guest appearance as the lover of Krishna.

Katrina’s hairstylist Promila Hunter is set to produce a film titled ‘Main Krishna Hoon’ to be directed by Rajiv S Ruia who recently made My Friend Ganesha.

When Promila asked Katrina if she would make a guest appearance in the film, the actress agreed readily. She did not even inquire about her role. It was later that she came to know that she’ll be playing Radha.

The movie will primarily focus of Lord Krishna’s life, from his childhood pranks to amorous flirtations with gopis. Katrina will have a small role but she’s taking it seriously and has started reading relevant books to understand Lord Krishna’s story and his relation with Radha.

Apparently, Katrina will do this cameo for free.

Salman Khan returns to 'Dus Ka Dum' With His Own Terms

Not the one to take a rebuke lying down, Salman Khan has finally made the broadcasters of the television show Dus Ka Dum kowtow to his demands.

Now, as the reports allege, Salman is set to return as the game show’s host for the third season, which will be go on air only next year. But what’s significant is Salman’s return to the show, which looked all but beleaguered in the flamboyant host’s absence.

As was reported earlier, Salman was set to host the third season this year, but the channel did not compromise on Salman’s demand for a fee hike. Last year, Salman had deliberately slashed his fee because the channel was reeling with the effects of economic recession. So the actor obviously did not take it kindly that the channel shot down his demand for a fee increment this year.

The result was that Salman bowed out of the show. The channel people obviously weren’t able to find a replacement for Salman. After all, who can match that charm, that spontaneity and those off-the-cuff wisecracks of Sallu?

Reports say that last week, the channel approached Salman again and agreed to do the show on his terms and conditions. Salman, too, did not show any airs and agreed to host the third season.

All’s well that ends well.

Jhootha Hi Sahi movie review | Cast and Crew | Trailer coming

Many are the ways in which love stories can be told. Some - like Karan Johar - tell it with flourish, using extraordinary situations to tell a pretty ordinary tale and propping it up with generous jabs of melodrama, tear-shedding moments and, of course, many a musical crescendo to boot. Others - like Abbas Tyrewala - prefer the gentle thrum of a brewing romance to an out-and-out eruption of love. Jhootha Hi Sahi, Tyrewala’s second directorial attempt and his wife Pakhi’s first shot at scriptwriting and acting, is a pleasing drift from Bollywood staple. It’s like a lulling boat ride on the sleeping Thames, with A R Rahman’s lilting melodies warbling in the background.

John Abraham plays a bespectacled, bumbling geek Siddharth aka Sid, whose phone number is mistakenly printed on the brochure of a suicide helpline in London. Thanks to this mix-up, every night Sid is flooded with calls from guys waiting and wanting to jump from windows or pumping down a bottle of sleeping pills. Sid tries to dissuade them from doing so.

One night he gets a call from a girl Mishka (Pakhi) who’s on the verge of ending her life after a bitter break-up with boyfriend (Madhavan). Sid persuades her to hang on to life and slowly a friendship brews between the two.

Trouble begins when Sid lies about himself and tells her that he’s an adventurous guy who has scaled mountains, plumbed deep seas and what not, while in reality he’s only seen it on National Geographic, that too in half sleep.

The real Sid is a wimp, who stammers, and cowers into a corner when faced with Mishka. So, should he reveal his true identity to her? Or should he play the double role - one as a phone friend in whom Mishka confides and the other as the bumbling Sid whom she grudgingly likes - all this without letting her know that both are the same person?

Hisss Movie Review | Mallika Sherawat's | Cast and Crew Tailor coming

Hisss Movie Review | Mallika Sherawat's | Cast and Crew Tailor coming

If ever a royal society is to be formed for prevention of cruelty to cinema, Hisss, directed by Jennifer Lynch and starring Mallika Sherawat, ought to be its maiden project. The film is a case study of what all cinema should not be.

Firstly, a subject like a shape-shifting snake-woman or icchadhari nagin on a vendetta isn’t exactly intriguing to make you dash for the nearest theatre. Themes like these were done and buried way back in the 1980s when Sridevi writhed in serpentine dances to the sonorous tunes of the been played by Amrish Puri in Nagina.

Now, in the 21st century, it’s Mallika Sherawat modestly stripping down to her birthday suit to play a vengeful nagin out to find her abducted mate.

An American named George (Jeff Doucette) is on a mission to find a snake couple with the hope of finding the mythical naagmani that could prevent him from dying of cancer. He captures a male cobra with the intent of making his female counterpart, the nagin, part with naagmani as a ransom to save her mate.

The nagin takes the human form and the next we see is a minimally dressed Mallika Sherawat setting out to hunt for her missing mate and in the course imparting her own justice by killing the tormenters of women.

Irrfan Khan shocks with his presence as a cop investigating the strange murders in this monstrosity of a film. Divya Dutt plays his wife. The question that begs to be asked is what ghoul got in these two actors to make them sign Hisss.

Mallika Sherawat scowls, frowns, glowers and pops out her eyeballs in the name of acting. Of course, she slithers with slimy snakes and even kisses one in a scene. Yuck! The special effects are of the tackiest kind and the direction by Jennifer Lynch is conspicuous by its absence.

Verdict - Prefer a snake bite to this film.

Rakta Charitra Movie Review | cast and Crew | Trailer Comming

Rakta Charitra Movie Review | cast and Crew | Trailer Comming

When a proverbial maverick like Ram Gopal Varma sets out to make a film and titles it Rakta Charitra, it’s a foregone conclusion that an unrestrained celebration of blood and gore is on the platter. So is the case with this utterly violent film, starring Vivek Oberoi, Abhimanyu Singh and Shatrughan Sinha in major roles.

Now, the bloody question is - how far is Rakta Charitra different from Ramu’s previous films of the same genre. The film’s plotline, inspired by the story of the Andhra politician Paritala Ravi, is definitely farm-fresh, but the theme of revenge and counter revenge and the bloodbath that follows is something we have seen in lesser degree in Ramu’s own films before. What’s different is that instead of being gunned down, people here are hacked. Weapons like sickles, crop-cutters, pickaxes and even heavy boulders come handy in this revenge saga with a political angle.

Pratap Ravi (Vivek Oberoi) is a simple collegian who turns into a killing machine to avenge the gruesome killing of his idealist father (Rajendra Gupta) and brother (Sushant Singh). As he slays one rival after another, Pratap becomes a figure of dread and awe in the rural hamlet, sparking a wave of counter revenge from his arch foe Buka (Abhimanyu Singh).

Pratap is taken out from rakta neeti and introduced to rajneeti by a powerful politician Shivajirao (Shatrughan Sinha). Thereby begins an altogether new journey of rise to power of this killer-turned-neta.

Ram Gopal Varma cuts to the chase with a bloodbath right at the onset, making clear to the flummoxed viewers in theatres that he intends to shock and awe them with unapologetic depiction of violence, killing, abductions and rape. To be fair to him, some sequences do hit you like sledgehammer, particularly the scene when Vivek guises as a police officer to do the killing. Even the scenes between Vivek and his mentor Shatrughan Sinha are gripping.

Rakta Charitra Movie Review | cast and Crew | Trailer Comming

'Rakta Charitra' opens well in south; 'Jhootha Hi Sahi' dull Box Office Reports

Three films releasing on the same day are most likely to eat into each other’s business. But there’s not much to bite into, if the reports of the opening day collections are to go by.

Rakta Charitra, Ram Gopal Varma’s most violent film to date, had an excellent start in Andhra Pradesh. The film’s Telugu version is running to house-full shows, and the reason could be that the film is based on the story of the bloody rise to power of the Andhra politico Paritala Ravi, played by Vivek Oberoi in the film. In the north, however, Rakta Charitra (Hindi) got a below average response from cine buffs, with mere 25 to 30 percent occupancy in theatres.

In comparison, Jhootha Hi Sahi, starring John Abraham and Pakhi, had a better start with about 35 to 40 percent occupancy, but the mixed reviews it has got from critics isn’t going to help it pick up much in the days ahead.

On the other hand, Mallika Sherawat’s Hisss, which has been unanimously panned by every critic, had a good start at single screen theatres. But the bad reviews and negative word of mouth might slow its run at box office.

Both Jhootha Hi Sahi and Hisss have got a poor start at the UK box office.

Which of the three films will sail and which will sink at box office will be clearer by Monday.

Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik RoshanGuzaarish Story

Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan the stars of the movie and the evening enthralled the audience with a live performance of the film's music.

Vivek Oberoi will tie the knot with the Bangalore girl Priyanka Alva october 29

October 29 is the day when actor Vivek Oberoi will tie the knot with the Bangalore girl Priyanka Alva. He says his wedding would be a grand affair.

“The wedding will be grand but a very private affair followed by a reception in Mumbai with family and friends attending,” Vivek told a news agency.

However, the groom-to-be has not even started doing shopping for his wedding.

“I am so preoccupied with Rakta Charitra that I did not do any shopping for my marriage. Now my family is taking care of that. I will soon be a married man but the feeling is yet to sink in,” Vivek added.

Incidentally, Vivek is so tied up with the promotion of the film, that he’ll also postpone his honeymoon. And when he explained his reasons for doing so to Priyanka, she did not complain.

“Priyanka has been very understanding and supportive. It is very unusual for a bride to be this practical and understanding about my career. She is really a lovely girl and means a lot to me. I thank Karnataka for giving me their most beautiful daughter,” Vivek said.

Incidentally, when Vivek visited Bangalore to promote the film, he was referred to as Karnataka ka damaad.

Mallika Sherawat Hisss Creation of Snake Woman Clothlessly Performed

Mallika Sherawat’s film Hisss will finally release on Friday. Amidst much media hype and much ado about Mallika’s naagin act, there are several facts that make this film promising.

First of all, it is not entirely a Bollywood project, as it is helmed by a Jennifer Lynch, a Hollywood director. The entire crew is a mix of Indians and westerners; in fact most technicians of the film are from Hollywood.

The special make-up and VFX (visual effects) work is done elaborately in the film to give life to the legend of snake-woman. Robert Kurtzman, a Hollywood FX expert travelled to India with his special team as the movie is entirely shot in India. His previous works include films like Predators, Vanilla Sky, Spy Kids, Hulk, etc. The list tells us how adept he is in creating unique creatures for big screen.

Is Kareena Kapoor’s Our 'BEBO' News for all the Wrong Reasons

Madhur Bhandarkar’s ambitious project Heroine is in news for all the wrong reasons. Though the director was keen to work with Kareena Kapoor and the actress was also game for the project, there are apparently several matters that are yet to be settled.

Now, we hear that the actress is not so keen to be part of the project for which she was reportedly very excited earlier on. The story about Heroine which is doing the rounds nowadays is that Bebo is backing out from the project because she thinks that the film is very similar to Milan Luthria’s The Dirty Picture which has Vidya Balan playing a siren from the south.

Bebo came to know about the script of the film because she is close to Tusshar Kapoor, and his sister Ekta Kapoor is producing Milan’s film.

Now Bollywood’s style diva wants to avoid any sort of comparisons with Vidya Balan, who has earned her stripes for giving stellar performances her last few films.

Heroine’s story is about a top actress who is at a low phase of her career and fighting the fate on her own.

Jhootha Hi Sahi - Movie Review - cast and Crew

'Aakrosh' and 'Knock Out' Poor at Box Office Report

This Friday’s major releases Aakrosh and Knock Out failed to make a great start at the box office.

If Aakrosh opened to a 30-35% response, Knock Out had 15-20% collections on its first day. The first weekend collections of both the movies were also bad.

Aakrosh was a bit better than Knock Out with around Rs 7.50 crore approx over the weekend. The breakdown was Rs 2.50 crore, Rs 2.25 crore and Rs 2.75 crore respectively for the first three days. The film is expected to do business of around Rs 10.50 crore approx over its first week.

Knock Out’s weekend collection was only Rs 2.50 crore approx. The breakdown is reported to be Rs 80 lakhs, Rs 70 lakhs and Rs 1 crore for the first three days respectively. The film is a flop and if things work a little better for it, then its lifetime business can touch Rs 5 crore mark.

Mallika Sherawat Clothless stripped for 'Hisss' Movie

For long there has been a buzz about Mallika Sherawat having gone nude for her role of a naagin in Hisss. Now, a co-producer of the film has confirmed this.

Quoting co-producer Govind Menon from a tabloid report: “Mallika has done most of the nude scenes in Hisss herself. She is a very committed artiste.”

The producer went on to say that a body double of Mallika was used not necessarily in the nude scenes but in the shots where the character of the snake woman is shown wallowing in the mud.

Menon added that nudity wasn’t forced deliberately in the film, but was the need of the script.

“The whole concept of nudity is justified because when you transform into a snake, which Mallika often does in the film, you can't have a dress or even a cloth or even a piece of jewellery on you,” Menon is quoted to have said.

Freida Pinto’s impeccable sense of style has again won - London Film Festival

Freida Pinto’s impeccable sense of style has again won accolades from her critics and fans. When the pretty lady walked on the red carpet in a black and gold Alexander McQueen dress at the 54th BFI London Film Festival for the premiere of her film Miral, she looked nothing short of marvelous.

Luckily it was also her 26th birthday yesterday and Freida was all smiles during the screening. Her black below-knee dress with gold encrusted detail along neckline matched the embellished belt with a bow top. The dress was equally feminine as it was edgy and moreover it was just perfect for someone like Freida.

The actress was joined on the red carpet by the writer Rula Jebreal who has scripted Miral. Rula too chose to be in an all-black dress for her awesome red carpet appearance. However, Freida’s beau Dev Patel was nowhere to be seen. The two could have made a good picture given the fact that the last time when Freida attended London Film Festival it was for her debut film Slumdog Millionaire.

Priyanka Chopra New Film Include Edited Lovemaking Scene

Priyanka Chopra was a bundle of nerves when she was told by director Vishal Bhardwaj that a passionate lovemaking scene was to be shot between her and senior actor Anu Kapoor for the movie Saat Khoon Maaf during the last shooting schedule in Coorg.

The actress who has done steamy scenes with the likes of Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor in the past, shied away from lying in the bed with Anu Kapoor. The reason that’s being cited is that Priyanka respects Anu as a senior and wasn’t comfortable in doing the hot scene with him.

Reports say Priyanka did not express her apprehension to director Vishal Bhardwaj directly. Rather, she sent the feelers through her assistant.

Talking about Priyanka’s refusal to do the sex scene, Anu Kapoor tells a tabloid: “Vishal ne mujhe bola ki Priyanka sharma rahi hai. Maine usko bola toh fir scene hi kaat do na? (Vishal said to me that Priyanka is feeling shy. So I told him to chop off the scene.”

However, Vishal shot the scene separately with Priyanka and Anu. On the editing table the shots would be clipped together in such a way that the audience would find it hard to figure out that the two actors did not shoot together.

That’s where the cunning of any filmmaker comes handy.

'Endhiran' Robot A unbeatably Hit Box Office

As fans continue to line up to watch Rajinikanth’s latest film Endhiran, the movie is smashing all box office records and writing history.

Making a film with a 60-year-old star and a whopping budget of Rs 160 crore did seem like a big gamble. But director Shankar has silenced all detractors, as the movie Endhiran shows no sign of slowing down at the box office down south.

According to a trade analyst, the Tamil movie (and its Hindi version Robot) has raked in a collection between Rs. 200 to 225 crores in just two weeks since its release on October 1. No other film in the history of Indian cinema has made so much money in just two weeks.

Going by the figures, Endhiran has collected Rs. 150 crores from Tamil Nadu only. Its collection from other south centres is close to Rs. 50 crore. And the earning of Robot (Hindi) stands close to Rs. 15 crore.

That’s not the end of it, as the film is likely to continue its good run in the weeks ahead.

Himesh Reshammiya & Mona Laiza Film Kajraare Released

On Friday, along with the major releases Knock Out and Aakrosh, the Himesh Reshammiya starrer and Pooja Bhatt directed Kajraare was also released. But no one knew about it, neither Himesh nor Pooja.

Just the producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series who released the film in just two theatres knew of it. So, did you ever hear of a hush-hush release that too in today’s Bollywood when a movie’s release without marketing could be a dangerous bet?

But why was Kajraare, a movie with a list of chart-busters by Himesh and a new Pakistani bombshell Mona Laiza, released only in two screens across India?

It’s believed that the producer Bhushan Kumar was getting a good price for the satellite rights of the film. But for that the movie should have a theatrical release as per the agreement, so Bhushan did the needful and released it in only two theatres - New Empire in Mumbai and Apollo in Pune.

It’s also said that Bhushan asked for Rs 1 crore from Himesh for the promotion of the film to which the singer simply said no. Moreover, Bhushan had already paid Rs 12 crore out of Rs 15 crore to Himesh as a part of his three films deal with T-series. As a producer he has profited because of the Kajraare music album.

It’s clear that the producer wasn’t interested in spending money for the promotions of the film, and to recover the cost, selling the satellite rights appeared to him a better business option.

Talking about the incident, Pooja Bhatt’s father director-producer Mahesh Bhatt tells a daily, “I have been in the industry from 1971 and never before have I seen this kind of release for a film of this stature.”

Himesh next movie A New Love Ishtory, which is directed by Sarfarosh fame John Matthew Matthan, is also with T-series. His last film with the company, Karzzzz, was a BO bummer.

Vivek Oberoi to Marry Fiance Priyanka Alva

The actor was engaged to model Gurpreet in 2002. Link does not work, neither did his supposed affair with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Vivek has been associated with many co-stars, including Neeru Bajwa and Vidya Balan. Alva family declined to comment for privacy reasons, and Vivek was unavailable. Perhaps he is busy as he is in good company.Priyanka Alva is a business management Graduate from London, United Kingdom.

Though Vivek remained unavailable for comment, sources close to the actor said he was bowled over by Priyanka’s “simplicity and humility.” Vivek and Priyanka met each other while working with an orphanage, and it was Bharatnatyam dancer Padmini Ravi who played matchmaker.

Vivek Oberoi has learned a lot about his wife-to-be. He said that she is like his mother. He added that she is a private person, a beautiful mix of traditional values and modern thinking. He went on to say that they connected instantly.
